Aasyia Jeelani was born on 9th February, 1974 in Srinagar. She completed her schooling from Presentation Convent High school, Srinagar. A science graduate from Women’s College, Aasiya for her keen interest and flare for writing, joined Mass communication and Journalism Department of Kashmir University for post graduation.

On April 20th, 2004, a strong voice called Aasia went silent when she got killed in a land mine blast at Chandigam in Lolab.

She was a brave daughter of her Nation. She was also the editor of a magazine dedicated to women, VOICES UNHEARD.

As a part of commemorating this Martyr of Peace, we will be publishing her write ups which she wrote and also edited in the magazine by the same name as this website.

This is our humble tribute to this journalist with a difference.
